Investing In Yourself

Not enough of us take the time to truly get to know who we are at the core of our being. Not taking the time we need to invest in ourselves puts others in authority to tell us what we should be doing, how we should be living, and where we should be doing it. I want you to take the time you need to truly know who you are. Doing what society tells you to do will often have you working longer than you want to work on a job you may not really want and spending time with people that you really don't want to have in your environment.

We often do this because we are not clear about the gifts we bring to the world. Inside the seat of your soul is a special gift you are to share with the world to help it be better. Your gift is designed to help you fulfill your purpose. Sometimes people discount their gift because it's undeveloped. Taking the time to focus on growing your gift will often allow you to monetize it. An undeveloped gift is often discarded. I want to encourage you to take a moment to see what you are really good at. When I finally took the time to get clarity about who I was at the core of my being, I discovered my gift, which led me to discovering my purpose. Since then I've been able to position myself to fulfill it.

Let me take a moment and define what a gift really is. It's the thing that you do effortlessly that helps others. You may be great at organizing things. You may be the person everyone goes to so they can feel better because you are a natural encourager. You may be someone that sees where action is needed, and you step up. That is a gift. Most of the time because we automatically use our gifts, we don't readily recognize them.

It took me a while to discover that I have the natural ability to organize chaos. I can enter a situation and see a plan of action that can be taken to start fixing things. I used to be irritated when I would be called into a situation where chaos seemed to reign. Once I took the time to discover my gift, I realized that I am supposed to be called for those situations because I am the one that develops the strategies needed to repair things. Opportunities will show up for you to do what you are naturally gifted to do. Embrace it, knowing that you are equipped to handle it. Doing this will allow you to truly live the life that you really want to live.

When I started looking at life through that lens, I gained more clarity about my purpose. Here's something I want to say about purpose. You're never too old to fulfill your purpose. I love the scripture that says all things work together for the good of them that love God and are called according to his purpose. God is a purposeful God. What He planted; He wants brought out. God tells us to be fruitful, but what God gives us to be fruitful with is a seed. It is your responsibility to grow the seed.

For those moments when you feel you are buried under the mess and muck of the world, I want to encourage you to know that it's OK. That mess is there to cultivate you. When you invest in yourself you can unearth greater insight about yourself. Until you believe you are worthy of the investment, you will stay buried.

Once you invest in fine-tuning your gift, it will bring to you the riches that you desire to receive. I'm not talking just about money. Although money can be a byproduct. I'm talking about being rich in the recesses of your soul. I am talking about the things that leave a legacy that generations can benefit from. Take the time you need to invest in becoming the best version of yourself and growing your gift.
